CONSTRUCTION OF SYNTHETIC SURFACED FOOTBALL FIELDS (STANDARD FOOTBALL FIELD) The site to be constructed is roughly excavated to a depth of 30 cm with a machine, and then finely graded according to application standards. Once the area is leveled, it is further compacted with a heavy roller. This will eliminate issues related to settlement and undulations caused by compaction. Drainage Channels: The perimeter channels of the football field are opened taking into account the locations specified in the project; starting from a depth of -40 cm and opening trapezoidal channels 50-70 cm wide with a 0.5% slope towards the discharge direction, then connecting them to the main drainage manhole. The channels within the football field must be opened at a 45° angle towards the perimeter channel as specified in the project. These internal channels start at a depth of -30 cm, are trapezoidal in shape, 30-50 cm wide, and slope 1% towards the perimeter channels, to be connected subsequently. Materials from the drainage excavation are removed and collected in a suitable area for disposal. The surfaces of the bases of the internal and perimeter channels are compacted and sloped before performing a rough grading. Afterward, 5 cm thick sand sized between 1-7 mm is laid and graded at the base of the channels. 100 mm diameter perforated PVC drainage pipes are laid into perimeter channels, and 100 mm pipes into internal channels. Pipe connections are conducted using sleeves, Y, and T branching elbows. The connection to the discharge point is made from the main drainage manhole as shown. Manholes: Manufactured from reinforcement-free concrete with a 250 strength dose, they are placed at designated locations (R1, R2…) in the application project. Channels: Immediately after finishing the drainage pipe installation and the production of manholes, drainage channels are filled with No. 3 (30 mm diameter) crushed stone gravel up to the top levels of the channels. Drainage Layer: After filling the channels, No. 3 gravel (approximately 30 mm diameter) is spread to a thickness of 20 cm to the specified size values of the planed infrastructure section on the football field. The spread gravel is compacted transversely and longitudinally with a roller. Top Layer: After preparing the drainage layer, the top layer is implemented. In the production of the top layer, No. 1-2 (5-15 mm) crushed stone gravel is spread by handwork to a thickness of 10 cm, ensuring it is at the right elevation on the football field. During the master-planning, heavy machinery and vehicles must not enter the site. After laying the gravel, the inserted patterns are removed, and the depressions they form are refilled and graded with the same gravel. Finally, the field is watered, and the spread material is compacted transversely and longitudinally with a 250 kg roller. Undulation Test: After completing the top layer, an infrastructure compliance undulation (waviness) test is conducted by a FIFA-authorized laboratory firm. If this test is favorable, the turf laying begins. Synthetic Turf to Be Used on the Football Field: To lay a carpet meeting FIFA standards, synthetic turf must have the following criteria: - Yarn Features: UV Resistant, 100% Polyethylene, Monofilament Yarn - Yarn Width: min. 1 mm - Yarn Thickness: min. 130 microns - Yarn Weight: Each filament must be at least 1375 dtex and have at least 6 filaments (straight or ribbed) - Base Fabric Total Weight: min. 215 g/m2 - Back Coating: Carboxylated SBR Latex min. 1000 g/m2 - Water Permeability: >300 mm/hour - Fiber Features: Fiber Height: 60 mm (±5%), Total Fiber Weight: 1250 g/m2 (±5%), Total Weight: 2465 g/m2 (±5%), Stitch Count: 8030 stitches/m2 (±5%), Tuft Bind: ≥30 Nm - Color Stability: Tested to meet FIFA standards, FIFA Quality Concept Recommended 2 Star - UV Stabilization: Tested to meet FIFA standards, FIFA Quality Concept Recommended 2 Star - Wear: Tested to meet FIFA standards, FIFA Quality Concept Recommended 2 Star - Colour Change: Tested to meet FIFA standards, FIFA Quality Concept Recommended 2 Star - Sand Features: Silica sand, dry, bagged, kiln-dried - Sand Use: The amount and structure must comply with the test results made by a FIFA-accredited laboratory for the synthetic turf to be used. - SBR Use: The amount of green SBR must comply with the test results made by a FIFA-accredited laboratory for the synthetic turf to be used. Implementation: In the football field application plan, sand and granule will be applied with a spreading machine. If Shock-pad (cushion) is to be used, it must have the same features, weight, and thickness as determined by test results made by a FIFA-accredited laboratory. The synthetic (artificial) turf carpet as specified above meeting these conditions and terms will be installed on the areas specified in the application situation. The synthetic turf for the football field will be manufactured green, and the game's lines will be woven with the same technical features, made in white and 10 cm in width as per the rules. The referee's walking area on the field will be the same color and feature as the play area from the game line. After spreading gravel and final leveling, felt made from synthetic material will be laid under the turf. The synthetic turf specified in the technical details above will be laid on the prepared infrastructure as per the description above. Lines on the turf should be at least 28 cm wide and adhered with helmet fabric and polyurethane adhesive. The turf meeting these criteria will have its infill materials of sand and SBR, spread with a sand and granule spreading machine. Manual spreading of sand and SBR is not allowed. FIFA RECOMMENDED 1-2 Star Certificates: The contractor must provide the administration with the FIFA-accredited certificate of the firm whose product will be used alongside a sworn translation signed by a sworn translator and a notarized product usage commitment as an annex to the petition to the tendering authority. The field will receive the FIFA RECOMMENDED 2 Star Certificate. Tests for FIFA RECOMMENDED 1 or 2 Star certificates will be conducted after the field is completed. The test results for the FIFA STAR 1 or 2 certificate, including laboratory tests (field tests and technical specifications listed above), will be translated into Turkish by a sworn translator and presented with the FIFA certificate. Since tests for the FIFA RECOMMENDED 1 or 2 Star certificates will be conducted after field completion and the testing process is sent to FIFA for Star 1 or 2 certification, 30% of the synthetic grass production payment will be made after the FIFA RECOMMENDED 1-2 Star Certificates are submitted to the Administration. The time for obtaining FIFA RECOMMENDED 1 or 2 Star certificates will be considered within the total duration of the work. No additional time will be given to obtain FIFA RECOMMENDED 1 or 2 Star certificates. All procedures and expenses related to obtaining the FIFA RECOMMENDED STAR 1 or STAR 2 certificates for the field will be borne by the contractor.
